Ruki - Head & Hand
I started the sketch 2 days ago so now I shall work on well, his face.
I always start with the face, I think starting with the background or clothes first is a little weird haha..
Tip: Well if the head is too big after drawing, just shrink it lol. Not everything can be done right the first time ^^
Starting with the "face base" layer again, and on to the "nose":

The nose is slightly off from the sketch but I felt that I should at least do the eye first before deciding how to push the nose around *lol*:

Switch off the sketch layer so the messy lines don't distract me. The sketch layer doesnt have to be "on" everytime, y'know~

Decided to do the eyebrow because it was rather simple. Eyebrows are to me, the easiest part of the whole face heh. Maybe cos Ruki has such neat eyebrows unlike...mine xD

Highlighting the face.. especially the cheek bone area. Haha he looks like the :/ emoticon

The mouth...proved to be the hardest part of the face. It's not the typical kind of closed-mouth that I see in alot of pictures actually. I had this BIG problem of opening the mouth too big, then again half his bottom lip was slightly faded into the face because of the lighting argh~

This is the final result.
Oh I discovered something! Sometimes the sketch may not be the best reference - your EYES are! By saying this I mean sometimes you don't have to necessarily follow so strictly to your sketch, but use your own eyes to judge whether the pic looks fine even if it doesnt follow the sketch 100%. Take that nose for example. Original sketch was higher than the actual drawing because I just felt it should be lower =] Stuff like that.

With the face almost done, it's time to do the hair. Same rules apply,
1) hair base (soft brush)
2) highlights (soft brush)
3) Details (Hard brush)
4) Blending down the details (Soft brush)

The hair at his face was easy but there was a slight problem with the back. It kind of blended into the black background, so i was confused how much hair he had LOL. So I decided to paint the whole background black for now :P

Time for the hat to wrap up for today! (ohoho you see my creepy reference pic there... xD)

Part of the hand on the hat.. I have difficulties doing hands!! :(

but surprisingly looks like this one is going well... ^^ I think his middle finger is bent down, can't really see in the ref pic.
Just BG and clothes left!!! :DDD
