Mao - SID (hair)
Time to start work on Mao again before Toycon this Friday~!
I did his hair in 4 layers:

The base. (black)

The 2nd base. (brown with random white streaks)

The hard brush layer!!! x_X

The soft brush layer *phew*
Ok lemme explain. This is the first time I've ever used the hard brush to paint hair! I watched couple of tutorials online from my favourite artists, and some of them use only the hard brush to paint hair. I guess it gives the hair a more sharper texture... But y'know, this being my first time trying - IT LOOKED LIKE FRIED GRASS. D: or like something horses eat.
So I put another layer of soft brush over it :3 *myuu* Turns out this combi of hard brush + soft brush looks quite ok I guess? And oh, I like to drag little versions of the original picture around my painting to catch details. This is after I've drawn the sketch and am happy with it. Dragging the little reference pic around is fun! (you get to cover unsightly things like the nose in this case...^^;)
yay.
